We are seeking a Senior Global Medical Affairs Leader (Sr GMAL) to join us at one of our dynamic Global Hubs! The Senior GMAL will lead and develop the strategy and lifecycle management of our assets in Multiple Myeloma, including cell therapies. This position will work closely with Oncology Business Unit (OBU) Medical peers to ensure creation and delivery of an integrated strategy and indication medical plans, ultimately having full responsibility for the Multiple Myeloma assets medical plan. Working in one of our largest tumor franchises, we are looking for someone who will excel in medical plans creation and execution, build medical evidence generation plans, develop medical affairs capabilities for the medical of the future, bring value to the cross-functional collaborations and be motivated by working with high performing colleagues in an exciting team.

What You'll Do:

Serving as a Hematology strategic leader, accountable for the development and delivery of the global medical tumor strategy, the key tasks of the Senior GMAL include:

  • Represents the Medical vision in key internal forums (e.g. GPT, MIT), driving agenda items and actioning accordingly
  • Lead MIT for core indications or brands and / or Indication lead, responsible for evidence & confidence strategy
  • Accountable for independent engagement with senior stakeholder across functions and markets to ensure input and alignment with cross-functional colleagues
  • Leads medical plan development in alignment with overarching brand strategy in collaboration with Global Medical Integration Team (MIT) and cross functional partners
  • Provides strategic input into GPT indication cross-functional strategy based on Medical and Evidence Generation outputs that ultimately complement the R&D development plan of priority products
  • Responsible for the development, direction and implementation of the Evidence Generation Strategy and Medical Affairs studies
  • Lead the RWE strategy providing input into concept development of Real World Studies to garner patient experience in a real world setting
  • Engages cross functionally to gain insight needs, understand the patient journey, and develop a multifaceted tactical plan to deliver, including Advisory boards, KEE 1;1 etc.
  • Serve as Strategic Lead for Advisory boards including developing a strategic plan for ad boards, shaping the agendas, and working collaboratively to ensure the right stakeholders are included in discussions to seek insights on the changing medical landscapes and evidence generation activities
  • Accountable for ensuring medical material as scientifically accurate in line with the agreed scientific narrative/data readouts
  • Partners with Oncology Medical Training (OMT) organization to ensure all training needs for internal stakeholders is planned and delivered
  • Develops medical education strategy and educational objectives, Identifies key tactical opportunities and measurement of program success
  • Accountable for the development of the publications strategy and plan including data analysis and enduring asset strategy
  • Responsible for budget across medical affairs and capabilities teams for delivery of tactical plan
  • Ensures that all Medical and business activities are carried out in compliance with AZ standards, standard operating procedures and external regulations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Master’s degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent medical/scientific qualifications and/or significant industry and/or therapeutic experience.
  • 6 years of senior/specialized experience within pharma/life sciences and/or medical experience
  • Significant understanding of the overall drug development process
  • Extensive Project/Medical planning experience
  • Ability to apply data and insights to priorities medical plans and studies
  • Experience of developing strategy and translating strategy into action plans
  • Strong customer and communication skills with a strong situational influencing style/ability
  • Experience and ability to influence strategically and persuade tactfully, to obtain desired outcomes while maintaining effective, positive organizational relationship
  • Expertise in product launches and/or mature brand development
  • Experience and strong ability to evaluate, interpret and present highly complex data for a series of studies (prospective and retrospective)
  • Strong experience of large market and/or global branding medical drugs within a pharmaceutical industry/oncology setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD); MD degree preferred
  • Hematology experience; this position will focus on Multiple Myeloma and CAR-T cell therapy
  • Preferred 2 years Global/Regional Medical leadership experience or 3+ years in a Senior Leadership Role in a large market
  • Country launch experience is preferred
  • Experience leading, promoting, motivating and empowering others to accomplish individual, team and organizational objectives

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $247,786  to $371,679. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
